GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Shamail Ahmed Khawaja Thursday said protection of health of citizens was the top priority of the government and there should be no compromise on it.
Addressing all DCOs of the division through a video link conference, Shamail said unscrupulous elements involved in food adulteration are enemies of humanity and deserve no leniency and they should be punished according to law.
He ordered hotel/restaurant administrations that walls between dining halls and kitchens should be removed forthwith and if it was not possible then install CCTV cameras and display big size LCDs in halls so that customers may witness the food preparation process.
He directed the food authorities to launch a vigorous campaign against adulteration in the division according to the guidelines of the Punjab Chief Minister.
The Commissioner ordered an indiscriminate crackdown on those preparing and selling adulterated items for kids.
LOCALS ROBBED OF CASH, VALUABLES: Robbers and thieves snatched gold ornaments, cash and goats from citizens in different incidents on Thursday.
At Pasrur Road two dacoits snatched Rs 20,000 and a cellphone from Abdul Salam. In Kamoke locality gunmen intercepted Aslam and his wife on GT Road and deprived them of Rs 5,000, gold ornaments and a cellphone. In Eminabad robbers snatched Rs 12,000 and a cellphone from Naveed.
In Sadr Wazirabad police limits two bandits snatched Rs 16,000 and a cell phone from Nabi Ahmed. At Qila Didar Singh Yaqoob was deprived of Rs 30,000 by robbers. In Tatle Aali locality four gunmen took away four goats from Hussain. At Wazirabad two robbers snatched three goats from Zulfiqar. At Baghbanpura Mujahid was deprived of two goats by robbers. In Ahmadnagar dacoits took away three goats from Amanullah.
At Kot Ladha dacoits snatched two goats from Jabbar Ali.
At Aroop robbers snatched new motorcycle of Usman near Punjab University Campus. Robbers took away new motorcycle of Shafiq from Satellite Town Market. Gunmen took away new motorcycle of Imran from the People’s Colony.
