Dirpis revokes registration of four private schools

Karachi

March 21, 2020

The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions (Dirpis) Sindh on Friday observed that eight privately managed schools were functioning in various areas of Karachi.

According Dirpis Register Rafia Javed, after receiving complaints their inspection teams visited the eight schools located in different areas of Karachi. Out of the eight, the registrations of four schools had been revoked by the directorate, she said.

Javed said the registration of one school had already expired, and its case had been forwarded to the Dirpis Director General to take action against the school owner. Whereas, she added, the other three schools which were found open had only called the non-teaching staff, therefore, the inspection teams warned the schools owners to keep the schools closed.

She said she had received complaints on Friday evening that some of the school administrators in Orangi Town had called teachers and the nonteaching staff to schools on Saturday.

The Dirpis official said they had decided that if those schools were found open on Saturday, they would “be closed permanently”. “I asked the owners of those schools why were they open. The owners said they wanted to collect fee from parents but it seems only an excuse for the opening of the schools,” she said.
