KARACHI: PHF president Khalid Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmed visited Hyderabad district on Wednesday and called on officials of all district associations of various parts of Sindh at a hotel.
The PHF high officials were welcomed by all the district hockey associations and they declared their visit a good gesture. It was the first time that PHF president and secretary visited Hyderabad to meet the district associations and discuss with them the promotion of the game at the grassroots.
On the occasion, the PHF president said he wanted the national game to progress in remote areas of the country and that maximum opportunities would be given to the youth of these areas.
PHF president said that he had directed the officials to activate their clubs and organise inter-district competitions.
The PHF would provide all support to the local organisers, he promised.
He said that four synthetic turfs have been laid in various parts of Sindh. “There is no lack of synthetic turfs, so why not we utilise these turfs and organise maximum hockey at grassroots level,” he said.
Khokhar announced that not only big events of national level but international matches would also be held in those cities of Sindh where synthetic turfs have been laid.
Sources said that the officials of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, and Nawabshah associations met the PHF bosses. They assured them to provide all support in the promotion of hockey.
The PHF sources said that Khokhar and Shahbaz would also go to KP, Balochistan and Punjab to take into confidence the local hockey organisers.
