Public sector reforms inevitable to move forward: Ahsan Iqbal
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal made it clear that without effective public sector reforms no government could be effective, if Pakistan has to move forward we need modern public sector, says a press release. Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal made it clear that without effective public sector reforms no government could be effective, if Pakistan has to move forward we need modern public sector, says a press release.
Speaking at a two-day National Consultative Workshop on ‘Civil Service Reforms’ organised by the Ministry of Planning Development & Reform (MoPDR) in Bhurban, Murree, Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase of its history, as ‘we are transforming from a terrorist to an emerging state’; hence we need modern public sector to meet the challenging situation.
It is pertinent to mention here that the two-day National Consultative Workshop on ‘Civil Service Reforms’ in Murree started on Tuesday.
The federal minister has said that this workshop is unique because they have political will to implement these reforms; hence real stakeholders are engaged in the reform process.
Ahsan Iqbal said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has taken the ownership of this reform process that is why we have wholesome presentation here, adding that administrative structure needed new inception as we are in the age of paradigm.
The minister said that the government institutions need to change the way of thinking and working because the traditional way of thinking and working would not be compatible with the reform agenda envisioned in Vision-2025 and PML-N manifesto.
He said that reforms are like oxygen for those countries, which wanted development; hence the incumbent government will make all-out efforts to reform our administrative structure according to the modern needs.
