Dacoit commits suicide during encounter

GUJRANWALA: A dacoit allegedly committed suicide during encounter with Jinnah Road police here on Saturday.
According to the police, two dacoits snatched cash from Aurangzeb on Sialkot Road and tried to flee but the police chased them. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire at the police party. In the meantime, a dacoit, identified as Majid of Kachi Fattomand, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself. However, the police arrested the second dacoit identified as Adeel. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
2 DEAD IN ACCIDENT: Two people were killed in a road accident near Pindi Bypass here on Saturday.
Muhammad Azhar and Arshad were on their way by a motorcycle when a speeding bus collided with their motorcycle. As a result, Azhar died on the spot while Arshad received serious injuries and rushed to the DHQ Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
KILLER GETS IMPRISONMENT: Additional Sessions Judge Liaqat Ali Ranjha on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to a man in a murder case.
According to prosecution, Umer Farooq gunned down Muhammad Aslam over enmity in Kotwali police limits on Jan 4, 2012.
HEARING ADJOURNED: The Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of a case till Sep 15.
Earlier, police produced Aurangzeb Farooqi, president of a defunct organisation, in the court while statements of witnesses were recorded. Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 judge adjourned the hearing of famous Daska lawyers killing case till Sep 15. The court also recorded the statement of investigation officer SI Muhammad Anwar Ali in the case.
2 HELD: A SNGPL team on Saturday conducted a raid and arrested two persons for supplying the gas illegally to dozens of houses after gas theft at Noshera Virkan.
The SNGPL spokesman told that accused Rana Naseem and Rana Saleem, residents of Mattu Bhaike, had connected a pipe with the main gas line and were allegedly involved in supply of gas to dozens of the houses illegally after gas theft. The raiding party also seized the pipe and other instruments from the spot, he informed. Police have registered a case against the accused persons, he added.
