BAHAWALPUR: Deputy Chairman Senate and JUI-F secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri Saturday said the national situation demands the nation and the Armed Forces must be on the same page.
Addressing a news conference, Haideri said the Indian aggression on the LoC had turned the border situation more tense and fully backing of the Armed Forces is the demand of the situation. The JUI-F leader said there is no mention in the 21st Amendment of the Constitution that police and other agencies would create harassment in seminaries. He called for action against those who challenges the writ of the state but forcibly entering in seminaries.
He termed daily resignations and protest sit-ins as childish attitude. About arrest of Mufti Kifayatullah by Punjab government on the charges of provocative speech in Chiniot, he said Kifayatullah had delivered such speeches already and it looks as he was arrested to please a certain religious community. He demanded immediate release of Kifayatullah. He said the Nandipur Power Project issue would be discussed in Parliament. Haideri also addressed the JUI-F workers convention in Jamia Saddiqia Noor Mahal road and Jamia Qudsia Model Town A.
4,100 SUBMITS PAPERS: Some 4,100 aspiring candidates have filed their nomination papers for 1,084 slots of UCs chairmen, vice chairmen, municipal committees wards and UCs general councillors in district Bahawalnagar for LB polls scheduled on Oct 31.
