GUJRANWALA: Hundreds of farmers staged a demonstration against registering of cases by Gujranwala police and low rate of rice crop outside the DCO Office here on Thursday.
The protesters chanted slogans against the government and police. The protesters led by Kisan Board office-bearer Ahmad Chattha said that the government’s attitude towards the farmers was rough. They said that the paddy growers were forced to sell their produce at very low prices. They criticised police for registering cases against the farmers for staging demonstrations. They demanded the government quash the cases against the farmers. They also demanded the government increase support prices of rice and other crops.
