Partial strike observed in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Traders Wednesday observed a partial shutter down strike against the withholding tax while a complete strike was witnessed in Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar areas amid a protest rally.
In Bahawalpur despite the call of the Markazi Anjamn Tajran almost forty per cent shops and business centres remained open.
No strike was observed in other cities like Hasilpur, Ahmadpur East, Yazman and Khairpur Tamiwali.
In Bahawalnagar, traders observed a complete shutter down strike and took out a protest rally against the withholding tax. The rally started from Bahwali chowk upto the Rafique Shah chowk. The participants raised slogans against the tax terming it as Zalmana Tax.
In Rahim Yar Khan traders observed a successful shutter down strike, however 10 to 15 per cent shops and business centres remained open in Rahim Yar Khan city.
DENGUE PATIENT REPORTED: A dengue patient was admitted to BVH Dengue Ward on Tuesday night.
According to BVH spokesman Dr Aamer Bukahri, 24-year-old Irfan of Dera Nawab Sahib was infected from Karachi as he has came back two days ago in feverish condition.
ELECTED: Sh Zia ur Rehman was elected president of Anjamn Aahrrtiyan New Sabzi Mandi, Bahawalpur for the next three years.
He defeated Alamgir Qureshi after tough contest. Malik Muhammad Hamid, Hafiz Din Muhammad and Farooq Ahmad traders of New Sabzi Mandi congratulated him on his win.
