KARACHI: Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), IBA, Hamdard University (HU) and hosts Aga Khan University (AKU) won their quarter-finals of the 13th AKU Inter-University football tournament underway here at AKU Sports Centre football ground.
In the first last-eight encounter, PNEC defeated Ziauddin University by 2-0 score. Abdullah Shams and Haziq Khan scored one goal each.
IBA found stiff resistance from Dow University of Health and Sciences before recording a 2-1 victory. Arslan Saleemi and Areeb Farhan scored one goal each for IBA while Sayem Jamal scored one for DUHS.
The third quarter-final between Hamdard University and IoBM was decided on penalty kicks after the regulation time ended with score-line locked at 1-1. Hamdard University won the match by 4-3 score on penalty kicks.
In the last quarter-final, hosts AKU defeated Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology by 2-0 score. Rehan Munir scored both the goals for AKU.
