Locals robbed of cash, valuables in 18 strikes

GUJRANWALA: Burglars and thieves deprived locals of cash and valuables in 18 strikes in different areas of Gujranwala.
Two bandits snatched Rs 20,000 and two cellphones from Shafiq near Elahi hospital in Baghbanpura police station.
Sohail was deprived of Rs 11,000 and a cell phone by two dacoits in Aroop area. Four dacoits took away four goats of a man in the limits of Noshera Virkan police.
A motorcycle No GAL-1563 of Asif was stolen near Khiali Chowk, motorcycle No-GAL3471 was lifted by unknown thieves outside the civil hospital, motorcycle No-GAL2721 was stolen outside the Waqar book depot. Insha was deprived of his motorcycle No-GAO1317 by robbers in Civil Lines area.
Thieves lifted motorcycle No GAK-2812 of Haider from Peoples Colony, motorcycle No GAM-8893 of Naseem from Mujahidpura, motorcycle No GAK-9502 of Sarfraz in Shaheen Abad, new motorcycle of Ghulam Abbas from Dhulley locality, motorcycle No GAM-697 of Manzoor from Satellite Town, new motorcycle of Tahir outside the DCO office, motorcycle No GAM-5522 of Athar from Jinnah Road, new motorcycle of Javed from Khiali Road, and motorcycle No GAO-3337 of Pittras outside the fruit market. Riaz was deprived of his car No STA0-701 from vegetable market. Thieves took away two goats of Amjad in Sadr police station limit.
FATHER, SON PICKPOCKETS HELD: An eleven-year-old pickpocket and his trainer father were held who were escaping from a wedding function after depriving a guest of his purse. According to Sadr police, pickpocket Ahmed got pick pocketing training from Chand and his father Jamil and Chand later established a gang of pickpockets. They were specially targeting the marriage ceremonies. Ahmed deprived a citizen of his cash in a marriage ceremony and was trying to escape with his father and Chand when guards intercepted them and handed over them to police.
TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS: Chief Traffic Officer Asif Zafar Cheema Tuesday said a crackdown has been launched against traffic rules violators. Talking to reporters, he said no pressure from any side would be accepted in the crackdown. He said two anti-encroachment squads have been established for the purpose. Cheema said traffic jam issue has became a challenge for traffic police and there were lot of complaints of citizens in this regard, know we have made a decision of crack down and this crack down would be continued till the end of encroachments. The CTO said parking of big containers on GT Road from Khiali Chowk to Qila Chand bypass while running of slow moving traffic from Pindi bypass to general bus stand has been banned.
