Mardan police recover eight stolen vehicles, arrest one lifter
MARDAN: The police recovered eight stolen vehicles while investigating the theft of a Suzuki Carry pickup and also arrested the car lifter, a police official said on Sunday.
District Police Officer Sajjad Khan said one Ziaur Rehman had lodged first information report after his car was lifted from Mardan bus terminal.
“We formed a team led by DSP Bahir Ahmed and SHO city Muqaddam Khan and the investigation led to the arrest of main culprit Fazal Subhan, resident of Par Hoti, and recovery of the stolen pickup,” the official said.
On the pointaiton of the arrestee, the police recovered another five motorcars and three rickshaws stolen from various areas. “The accused also divulged the name of his accomplice, who is an Afghan national living in Peshawar. Raids are underway to arrest him too,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, the police also arrested the main accused in the murder case of a woman within 24 hours of the killing. The wife of Aurangzeb was shot dead near
Bank Road in Mardan on Sunday. The police arrested Rehmat and Yar Zameen, hailing from Upper Dir and currently living in Charsadda district. The arrestees confessed to the murder and stated it to be a consequence of dispute.
