Imran Khan heading price-hike mafia: Marriyum Aurangzeb
LAHORE: Terming Prime Minister Imran Khan the head of ‘inflation mafia’, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) central spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb asked on Saturday why a search of mills of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Jehangir Tareen and Khusro Bakhtiar had not been carried out so far to recover sugar stocks hoarded there.
Talking to the media here, she said the government must make Jehangir Tareen and Khusro Bakhtiar cough up billions, which they made within a month by creating an artificial crisis of wheat and sugar in the country. “It’s an open and shut case as all fingers point towards the two,” she said, adding that it would be better if the government opens 500,000 Panahgahs all over Pakistan with that money. She questioned who was pocketing huge sums of money made through the increase in tariff of electricity and gas.
Separately, PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah has demanded mid-term elections as the PTI-led coalition had failed to run the country. He said the poor people were robbed of Rs180 billion by creating artificial flour and sugar crises in the country. He alleged that the ‘ATMs’ which had sponsored the election campaign of Prime Minister Imran Khan were being ‘filled’ with money through the creation of flour and sugar crises and price-hike.
Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Sumaira Komal submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly on Saturday, seeking removal of Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar for creating an artificial shortage of sugar through export in the first place and then pocketing billions by importing the commodity. The resolution demanded a parliamentary commission to investigate Khusro Bakhtiar and Jehangir Tareen, the two alleged architects of the sugar crisis in the country.
