National kabaddi training camp in progress
LAHORE: Pakistan’s training camp for the preparation of Kabaddi World Cup 2020 remained continue at Punjab Stadium on Thursday. Members of national kabaddi team underwent hectic training and exercises at the camp.
Punjab Minister for Sports Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and DG Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh visited the training camp and urged the members of national kabaddi team to demonstrate their best kabaddi skill in the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup and earn laurel for the country.
They also inspected various parts of Punjab Stadium and enquired the players about their preparation and training for the Kabaddi World Cup 2020.While talking to media, Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said Pakistan is going to host first-ever Kabaddi World Cup from Feb 9 to 16 in three cities of Punjab. “Certainly, it is a big honour for the country to host such a big sports event at our own grounds.
We are ready to welcome world’s leading kabaddi stars. Literally, we are reviving our traditional game of kabaddi under the slogan of ‘Apni Mitti Apna Khel’”.“International sports teams are visiting Pakistan quite frequently which is quite heartening. Bangladeshi cricket team is in Pakistan to play Test match at Rawalpindi and recently we hosted Sri Lankan cricket team.
We are also going to host star-studded 5th edition of PSL after Kabaddi World Cup”.Answering a question about Indian kabaddi team’s participation in Kabaddi World Cup, Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti expressed his hope that the neighbouring country will send full strength kabaddi team to Pakistan to participate in the mega Kabaddi World Cup 2020.
Meanwhile, DG Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh distributed prizes at Kashmir Day men and women hockey matches at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. Head Coach of national hockey team Olympian Kh Junaid was also present on this occasion.
The Kashmir Day women hockey match was played between Pakistan Green and Pakistan White under the auspices of Rana Zaheer Hockey Academy. Pakistan Green defeated Pakistan White by 3-1.
