SUKKUR: The Anti-PPP bigwigs from different political parties, including former federal minister and relative of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Shahid Husain Bhutto, have joined the newly-formed local alliance “Larkana Awami Ittehad” (LAI) to challenge the PPP in the upcoming LB elections in Larkana and Kambar-Shahdadkot districts.
Prominent among political figures of the LAI are former chief minister Sindh and PML- N Leader Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, former PPP MPA Haji Munawwar Ali Abbasi, former federal minister Shahid Husain Bhutto, Divisional President PML-F Larkana Syed Akbar Shah Rashidi, PTI leader Shafqat Husain Unnar, former Taluka Nazim Qurban Abbasi, Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto, chief of Gopang community Sardar Fida Husain Gopang, former Taluka Nazim Larkana and PML-F Leader Nazir Sheikh, Syed Deedar Ali Shah. All of them have sizeable vote bank and can upset the opponents. The PPP is facing public resentment over the issue of corruption in Sindh province, and opponent parties have raised the issue and joined to challenge the PPP. The LAI lambasted the poor performance of provincial government, particularly malpractice in mega projects among Larkana Development Package and others.
Leaders of different political parties assembled at the Abbasi House, Larkana and laid foundation of the Larkana Awami Ittehad, comprising the members from different political parties and disgruntled workers of PPP. They will work under the banner of the LAI. On the occasion the participants elected Mumtaz Ali Bhutto as chief patron (LAI), and Haji Munwwar Ali Abbasi as Convener.
Speaking on the occasion, they said the LAI had been formed for making people of Larkana and Kambar Shahdadkot aware of their rights and to resolve their problems. They said that the PPP rulers had posted most corrupt officers and made lives of the people miserable. They claimed that the masses knocked on our doors seeking to get rid of corrupt and inept rulers and officers. “We will not hesitate to take steps in this regard to serve the masses.”, Leaders of LAI added. Few days back PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the Naudero House.
He held meetings with MNAs, MPAs and other PPP leaders of Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Sukkur divisions in connection with upcoming LB elections.
