RPO urges civil society to play role in promoting peace

BAHAWALPUR: RPO Ehsan Sadiq Saturday said every effort would be made to bridge the gap between police and community in maintaining law and order. Addressing the seminar on reconciliation committee under the Citizen Police Liaison Committee, the RPO said education, knowledge and moral values can be helpful to greater extent in promoting peace in society. He urged civil society to play its role in restoring peaceful atmosphere in society, saying that it is the responsibility of every citizen that reconciliation committee to work for peace.
Dr Rana Muhammad Tariq, chairman CPLC and Jamshed Karim general secretary CPLC also spoke. SDPOs of Yazman circle Raja Ghulam Abbas, Riaz Hussain Bukhari and Shafqat Atta also participated.
BIKER DIES: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Saturday.
Nazeer Ahmad and Makkiya Bibi of Knajkiwala were riding a motorcycle, when they reached near Channi Goth Chowk a speeding van hit them, leaving Nazeer dead on the spot and Knajki injured.
FIVE SUSPECTS HELD: Police and law enforcement agencies took into custody five suspects during a search operation in the wake of the National Action Plan. According to police sources, the search operation was conducted in different areas of Bahawalpur district and the suspects were being interrogated.
