Meat, hides of donkeys, horses seized from truck in Kasur
1,500 donkey hides recovered from local godown

KASUR: Police in Kasur seized a truck loaded with stolen meat of horses and hides of donkeys which were to be exported to foreign countries and arrested its driver on Friday night.
According to the FIR registered in police station, a truck, loaded with over 100kg meat of horses and hides of donkeys, was heading towards Lahore from Kasur which was intercepted by police and arrested its driver while three other accused managed to escape.
The responsible sources of the Kasur police station said that the two persons of a local group used to provide meat and hides of horses and donkeys to godowns of Dinghar and Sihari areas where these hides were stored after salting.
These were sold to a foreigner who was residing in Kasur.
The sources said that several influential persons were involved in this heinous business which had been going on for last one year. According to a report, the meat and hides of over Rs1.5 billion have been exported by that foreigner.
The police said that on a tip-off, Police Station B Division Kasur raided a godown where they found dead donkeys and horses, however on the interference of a local politician, the raid was kept secret and arrested persons were released.
The sources said that the donkeys and horses were killed by injecting them poison which made it easy to remove their hides.
The sources said that two big traders were running this business and heavy amount was transferred in their accounts and after taking their shares, they divided remaining amount among others including that local politician.
According to another report, about 1,500 donkey hides were recovered from a godown in Dingarh town of Kasur, while three Chinese were also found on the spot who are stated to be the hide buyers.
