Mardan police resolve blind murder
MARDAN: An investigation team of Mardan police has resolved a blind murder case by arresting an alleged killer who confessed that he had killed his friend because the deceased wanted to have illicit relations with him, a senior official said on Tuesday.
Recently, there have been several cases of molestation and killings in various districts of KP, which made headlines in he media. In the latest case, the body of a student was recovered in Shergarh area recently and the Mardan police successfully traced the case.
Speaking at a news conference, District Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that one Bahadur Khan reported to Shergarh Police Station that his son Salman had gone missing from Pir Sadi village. He said while working on the case, the police recovered the mutilated body of the missing student on January 25.
“According to medical report of the body, the deceased had died of suffering a bullet in his head. The culprit was a close friend of the deceased and they were neighbours as well.
Also, the arrestee is about three years younger than the slain,” he said. He said that after collecting more evidence from the crime scene, the police traced the case and arrested one Sartaj, a former friend of the deceased. The arrestee confessed that he killed Salman because the later wanted to establish illicit relations with him.
“On the day of the killing, I was waiting for him in sugarcane crop and as soon as he entered the sugarcane field with ill intentions, I shot him dead,” the arrestee was quoted as having said to the investigation team. A day earlier, the police in Takhtbhai had arrested an alleged molester in another case as well.
