KP CM visits Peshawar market to assess flour price, supply situation
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan visited the Rampura Bazaar here on Friday where he met the traders to assess the situation of the flour price and its availability in markets. Later, he went to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), the biggest public sector health the facility in the province, and inspected the facilities being offered at the new block and other departments there.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Merged Districts Ajmal Wazir, Peshawar commissioner and other relevant officials were present, said an official handout. Talking to people and media representatives at the bazaar which has wholesale shops, Mahmood Khan stated flour is available in bulk as per government price list and there is no flour crisis. He said some elements tried to create an artificial flour crisis but the ground realities are different and the availability of the commodity at the controlled price had been ensured throughout the province.
The chief minister said the role of the trader community in overcoming, what he said was artificial flour crisis, is appreciable. He made it clear that 115-gram wheat bread is available at the official rate of Rs 10 However, he warned of a legal action against those exceeding the official rate.
After taking stock of the flour supply situation, the chief minister visited the LRH and examined the Emergency Department, Out Patient Department, Intensive Care Unit, other wards and departments of the hospital. Mahmood Khan inspected the newly established Medical Allied Block. He was briefed in details about the medical facilities available there. He was informed that the new block had 200 beds capacity along with standard equipment and facilities. Mahmood Khan was told that 100 medical officers along with supporting staff had been deployed at the block whereas the availability of all medical specialists and doctors have been ensured. The senior doctors were carrying out surgeries while consultants were available on call.
