Huzaifa-Shoaib move into tennis tourney second round
KARACHI: Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and his partner Shoaib moved into the second round of men’s doubles at the Serena Hotels National Ranking Tennis Championships in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The pair of Huzaifa and Shoaib defeated the duo of Shahzad Khan and Usman Ejaz 6-3, 6-4 in the first round.
In other matches, the pair of Mudassir Murtaza and Asad Siyyid thrashed Imran Bhatti and Mian Bilal 6-0, 6-4. Ahmed Kamil and Ibrahim Omer beat the duo of Shaheen Mehmood and Shahid Afridi 6-4, 6-2. The pair of Ejaz Khan and Asadullah overpowered Abbas Khan and Shakirullah 6-4, 7-4 (10-7).
In the men’s singles first round, Barkatullah won against Mian Bilal 6-4, 7-6 (5), Shaheen Mehmood beat Faizan Fayyaz 6-4, 6-2, while Asadullah defeated Shakiullah 6-1, 7-5. Heera Ashique defeated Subhan Bin Salik 6-2, 6-3, Muzammil Murtaza thrashed Ahmed Kamil 6-4, 6-1, Asad Siyyid smashed Ibrahim Omer 6-0, 6-1, Mohammad Abid thumped Imran Bhatti 6-1, 6-1.
In the first round of boys’ under-18 singles, Bilal Asim beat Ahmed Nail 6-4, 6-2, Hamid Israr thrashed Faisal Khalil 6-0, 6-0, while M Abdullah defeated Yahya Musa 6-3, 6-2.
