Sindh being treated as colony: Unlike Punjab not being allowed to replace IGP, claims Bilawal Bhutto

KARACHI: The Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Tuesday alleged that Sindh was being treated as a ‘colony’ and its elected government was not being allowed to replace the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in the same manner in which the IGP of Punjab province was replaced recently.

 “Is Sindh a colony which is not being allowed to change its IG (of Police) like Punjab did recently. The law and order situation in Sindh has destabilized during the last one year and the people of Sindh are very disturbed due to that and want the chief minister to take stock of the situation. There should be one law for Pakistan and Sindh IGP should be replaced like that of Punjab,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of an additional water pumping station at Dhabeji in Karachi. Bilawal said that Sindh CM should have a team of his own so that he could work up to the expectations of the people of the province and added that everywhere in the world, police is selected from their own community so they would understand each other and resolve the issues amicably.

Alleging that the ‘selectors installed an inefficient government’ which was the extension of Musharraf’s regime, Bilawal maintained that the present government led-by PM Imran turned Pakistan into a food-insecure country and added that this government was carrying out the economic murder of the nation. “This government is a curse for the people of Pakistan, which has deprived them of flour, bread, gas and other basic necessities of life,” he charged and claimed that there was no difference in the economic policies of PTI and the previous PML-N governments as both formulated anti-people policies.

Criticizing the prime minister for not putting a single stone in Karachi by the federal government, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan made tall claims about the development of Karachi but ever since, in power, he has not even inaugurated a single project in the megacity. Accusing the PTI-government of destabilizing the federation, he said the people of Sindh were being deprived of the natural gas which is produced in the province and it was their first right under the constitution and added that similarly, the people of the province were also being deprived of water being the low riparian province. Bilawal questioned and alleged that last year, Sindh was given Rs 100 billion less from its share in the NFC accord while this year too, Sindh’s due share in the divisible pool was not being given to it.
