PESHAWAR: Residents of Sufaid Dheri area on Monday asked the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to repair the tube-well that has been out of order for the last week.

Several residents, including Abdur Rehman, Sajjad Ahmed, Nawab Ali, Aftab Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Muhammad Naseer Khan, and Zarina Bibi told media that the residents were facing problems due to the faulty tube-well. They said the scarcity of water had created multiple problems as the residents were forced to fetch water from other localities through handcarts and rickshaws, adding the well-off families were meeting the needs through water-tankers. The residents complained that they had contacted the executive engineer and sub-divisional officer several times but nothing had been done so far. They also deplored the attitude of the lawmaker elected from the area towards the issue. Zarina Bibi, a schoolteacher, said it had become difficult for the school management to provide drinking water to the students at the schools. The area residents threatened to stage a protest if the officials of the department did not repair the tube-well within 24 hours.
