Pervez Khattak says no threat to govt
NOWSHERA: Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak said on Friday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government would complete constitutional term in office as all issues with allies had been resolved through successful talks.
“Negotiations are going with allies which have addressed their reservations. There is a consensus on most of the issues,” he said and insisted that talks were in progress with allies such as Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan), Grand Democratic Alliance, Balochistan Awami Party and Balochistan National Party (Mengal Group).
He was speaking to the media after attending a jirga that reconciled the families of the Pir of Manki Sharif and Sahibzadgaan. The federal minister felt propaganda had been unleashed against the government. “The issue is being blown out of proportion. “One witnesses small disagreements even within a family. There is no threat to the government,” Pervez Khattak argued. He said the government allies practised principled politics. “Those who want to create a misunderstanding between the government and its allies will face a disappointment,” he said but hastened to add that genuine demands of the allies would be met accordingly. Pervez Khattak said Prime Minister Imran Khan enjoyed the confidence of all, adding talks were in progress with the opposition parties on the accountability laws and other legislation. He hoped the issue of appointment of the chief election commission and other members of the commission would be resolved amicably was done in the case of services chiefs tenures.
