Police foil attempt to smuggle narcotics

Islamabad : Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has foiled an attempt of smuggling narcotics and recovered huge cache of drugs, liquor and ice, a police spokesman said.

Following special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed has directed all police officers to accelerate their efforts against drug dealers/smugglers and curb this menace from capital.

Following these directions, SP (Investigation) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer constituted special anti-drug police teams under supervision of DSP (CIA) Hakim Khan. One of the team including Sub-Inspector Muhammad Inam-Ullah, ASIs Aamir Hayat, Safdar Hussain Gondal and others were conducted special checking in Sector G-13/1 when it signaled to stop a suspicious vehicle (AHZ-562). Instead of the stopping the car, the occupants hit the police team resulting leg fracture to Sub-Inspector Anam Ullah and other. However, the police team managed to stop the vehicle and car occupants managed to flee under cover of firing.

Police team searched the vehicle and recovered 39 bottles of liquor, 6.225 kilogram hashish, 1.550 kilogram heroin, 35 gram ice, two 30 bore pistols, one rifle along with ammunition from it.

Police have succeeded to know about the whereabouts of the absconders who have been identified as Wasim Alias Padri s/o Muhammad Hussain and Aziz-Ullah Alias Zuli. The identification of one accused in not clear, however, police teams have been constituted to trace the culprits after registration the case at Golra police station. IGP Islamabad and DIG (Operations) has appreciated the gallant and efficient performance of CIA Police team and announced cash rewards for the members of police team. IGP Islamabad has also ordered for complete treatment and care of injured officials.

DIG (Operations) has said that Islamabad police is making all out efforts for safety and security of citizens. He has also requested the citizens to inform police in case of any such suspicious activity in their areas.
