Nawaz’ fresh medical report: Home Dept shows reservations
LAHORE: A lawyer of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday filed fresh medical reports with additional registrar (judicial) of the Lahore High Court showing the health of his client still not well.
The reports filed by Advocate Amjad Pervez were duly attested by the Pakistan High Commission in London where Nawaz had gone to have treatment with a conditional permission granted by the court.
The reports stated that Nawaz is still receiving treatment for the stability of his platelets. They revealed Nawaz is also a patient of hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease. The lawyer said the reports prepared by London’s doctors had not so far advised Nawaz for air travel.
The court had allowed Nawaz to travel abroad initially for a period of four weeks allowing bail to him on medical grounds. His lawyers were directed to keep filing fortnightly medical reports.
Sabah adds: The Punjab Home Department on Wednesday opposed extension to Nawaz’s bail while expressing concerns over his second medical report.
According to media reports, the Home Department has forwarded the report to the Health Department for examination. It has been learnt that the Home Department decided in Wednesday’s meeting to not declare the erstwhile premier’s report valid until it is verified by a medical board.
The Health Department will formulate the medical board to examine the report which will then be submitted to the provincial cabinet along with recommendations of the board.
On the other hand, Nawaz’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan took to Twitter and shared the latest medical report of the former PM dated January 13, 2020, authenticated under seal by the Notary Public Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO UK) and High Commission for Pakistan London. Dr Adnan said the scans and investigations are legally authenticated too.
The meeting of the medical board will be held on Thursday to review the fresh medical reports of Nawaz. The medical board will send its recommendations to the Home Department on the basis of the medical reports. Following these recommendations, the Home Department will decide over extension to Nawaz’s bail.
