BATKHELA: Expressing concern over the lingering issue of land acquisition, the elders and political leaders on Tuesday asked the government to acquire the land for the construction of the Government Girls Degree College in Malakand district.
Speaking at a public forum held at the Malakand Press Club, Awami Jirga Batkhela chairman Mian Azizul Haq, Rahimzada, Malik Riaz, Haq Nawaz, Haji Taj Muhammad, Zakir Hussain, Salim Khan, Pervez Khan and others said that the students of the girls college had been accommodated in the building of the government high school for the last eight years while the students of the school had been accommodated in a rented building. They said that the fund for the construction of the girls college had already been sanctioned but ironically the government failed to propose a site for its construction despite the lapse of long eight years.
They said that the Jirga members had held several meetings with the stakeholders to this effect so far but to no avail. “The ANP-PPP coalition government had assured that the building for the girls college would be completed after two years but nothing has been done so far,” Mian Azizul Haq.
The elders said that the local administration should acquire the land for building the college at Zafar Park in Batkhela terming it a feasible site for the purpose.
