Claim over winning DBA president slot: Two lawyer groups clash in Okara
OKARA: Two groups of lawyers clashed with each other in the DBA room over a claim of winning the bar president slot. The Channar and Sanguka groups started quarreling with each other in the bar room claiming winning the slot of bar president. The lawyers slapped and kicked each other.
Earlier, the dispute arose between the Channar and Sanguka groups after the announcement of bar polls on January 11. The election board of the bar members Shahid Hameed Ch and Sheikh Najmus Saqib announced the results of the elections. After announcement of the bar results, the losing group members snatched counted ballot papers. Later, a case was registered against Sanguka group members. On Monday, when both the groups came to the District Complex and entered the bar room, both group members tried to occupy the president’s chair. Supporters of both groups led by Farooq Ashraf Sanguka advocate and Muhammad Ramzan Nadeem Channar attacked each other. In the meantime, senior lawyers arrived there and separated them from each other. Now both the groups have contacted with the Punjab Bar Council Office in Lahore to resolve the dispute.
‘UNIVERSITIES MUST IDENTIFY THEIR PROBLEMS’: The universities must identify and provide viable solutions to certain local and global problems through multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research. It was said by Prof Dr Steven Granich while addressing the faculty of the University of Okara here on Monday.
The event was organised by the Directorate of External Linkages. Dr Granich from US, who is currently on a four-day visit to the UoO, explained different research trends of the US universities and urged the faculty to launch research projects with the collaboration of various disciplines in a bid to guide the policymaking institutions towards the solutions of prevailing social and economic menaces.
UoO Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakariya Zakir told that if universities did not contribute to social change and social improvisation it means they were doing nothing for the youth.
