SHC issues notice to FPSC over CSS 2019 irregularities
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to the chairman and controller of Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) on a petition seeking issuing of stay order and cancellation of results of Central Superior Services (CSS) 2019 results.
Petitioners, candidates of CSS 2019 Ghulam Mujtaba Soomro, Hafiz Taha Syed and others filed their constitutional petition through their lawyers. Both the top officers of the Commission were directed to appear in person or through their pleaders for submitting replies on January 14. In their plea, the petitioners maintained that examination of CSS 2019 was held in February 2019 in which many irregularities, including of leaking of examination papers, were observed and such information through a written representation was conveyed to the FPSC chairman, but it was ignored, violating the law of the Commission, as according to the Commission Ordinance 1977 sub article 3(a) of Section 7, the chairman is bound to decide the said representation.
The petitioners added that media reported that some persons were arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the allegation of leaking of CSS 2019 papers and giving to some 1,000 candidates, but the Commission’s management did not take any proper action in this regard and remained silent.
In their petition, the candidates also questioned amendments made in CSS examination without the approval of the government. The petitioners prayed the court to direct the FIA for legal action against the management of FPSC regarding the alleged irregularities in CSS 2019 examination, producing all record of the Commission before court and declaring the competitive examination of CSS 2019 null and void.
