Zardari, Faryal, others to be indicted on 22nd
ISLAMABAD: An accountability court will indict former president Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and other accused in the Park Lane and mega money laundering reference on January 22.
During the Tuesday’s proceedings, Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel sought his exemption from appearance on medical grounds. He told the court that the former president was undergoing medical treatment in Karachi, as he was suffering from various diseases.
The court accepted the plea and granted Zardari one day exemption. The court observed that all the accused must ensure their appearance on the next date of hearing, as they would be indicted on that date.
A NAB investigation officer told the court that nine more suspects had been included in the supplementary reference of mega money laundering case while five persons had been removed from the list. The court was told that four accused, including Haji Haroon, Younas, Azam Wazir and Mushtaq Mahar, had escaped to Canada and the UK and the Bureau had decided to contact the Interpol for their arrest. The court issued notices to Asif Zardari, Faryal Talpur, Anwar Majeed, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Nimar Majeed, Hussain Lawai, Younus Kidwai and other accused in the supplementary reference and adjourned the hearing till January 22.
