Mercury dips as Peshawar, other parts of KP receive rain
PESHAWAR: Different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital, received light shower on Monday, bringing the temperature down.
The rain started in the morning and it continued throughout the day with intervals. According to the Meteorological Department, widespread rain occurred in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab while at isolated places in upper Sindh, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hilly areas like Malam Jabba, Kalam, Chitral, Dir, Parachinar, Zhob and Bagrot received snowfall during the last 36 hours.
About 55 millimeter rain was recorded in Kalat, Quetta (Samangli 52, City 41), Dalbandin 35, Sibbi 26, Nokkundi17, Zhob, Barkhan 11, Ormara 06, Panjgur 03, Khyber and Parachinar 26, MalamJabba 25, Saidu Sharif 13, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu 11, Dir (upper 09, lower 08), Kakul, Kalam 08, Balakot 07, Pattan 06, Takht Bhai 05, Cherat 03, Peshawar (City) 02, Chitral, Drosh 02, Mirkhani 01, in Punjab Bahawalpur (A/P 22, City 12), Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad 16, Murree 15, Kasur, Jhang 14, Hafizabad, Layyah, KotAddu, Bhakkar, Sahiwal 13, Okara, Khanewal 12, Lahore (A/P 12, City 10). ), Toba Tek Singh, Nurpurthal, Sargodha, Joharabad 08, Multan 07, Rahim Yar Khan 05, Narowal 05, Chakwal 04, Sialkot (City 04, A/P 03), Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan 03, Khanpur 02, Islamabad (Saidpur 02 , Airport, Zero Point , Golra 01), Gujrat, Attock 01, Kashmir, Muzaffarabad (City 10, Airport 08), Rawalakot 07, Garhi Dupatta 05, Kotli04. The snowfall recorded was MalamJabba 10 inches, Parachinar, Kalam 05, Zhob 02 and Bagrot 01 inch. The lowest minimum temperature remained in Skardu -13°C, Astore -09°C, Kalam -08, Parachinnar, Gupis, Bagrot -07°C, Malam Jabba -06°C, Hunza and Rawalakot -05°C.
According to weather experts, rain with snowfall over the hills is expected today (Tuesday) at scattered places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper andcentral Punjab, Bahawalpur division, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while at isolated places in central and southern districts of Balochistan.
KALAYA: Like other mountainous parts of the province, the Orakzai tribal district also has been receiving snowfall.
The mountainous areas in the Upper, Central and Lower Orakzai had received snowfall up to two feet. Besides, various link roads in Ghiljo, Daburi, Ghundaki, Mamozai, Ali Sherzai, DaburiMishti, Karaiz Kalaya, Hassanzai Darra, Tarangi, and Manikhel Kalaya were blocked for all kinds of vehicular traffic.
The residents of Mamuzai area, Gul Manan and Minhajuddin said that due to snowfall they were unable to go out for work, adding, they were also facing tremendous problems.
