78 POs arrested in DI Khan in Dec
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police have arrested 78 proclaimed offenders and also seized 12 non-custom paid vehicles in the district in December last, said an official Sunday.
He said that 41 drug peddlers were also arrested in the month. Also, 19,419 litres of Iranian diesel, Iranian petrol, 282 bags of peanuts, 250 bags coconuts, 14 bags almond, five bags of currant (kishmish) were among the goods seized during the police drive against smuggling and later these goods were handed over to the Customs authorities. Similarly, two infamous terrorists, carrying head money of millions of rupees, were also killed in an encounter during the period. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Mian Wahid Mehmood said that preventive and proactive policing can improve law and order situation. “Preventive policing means actions that the police take to prevent crimes such as nakabandis and patrolling,” he said, adding that proactive policing means to detect crimes taking place.
