NAB Sukkur presents its Year 2019 performance report
SUKKUR: The NAB Sukkur’s annual performance report for 2019 claims to have recovered Rs10 billion, making it the highest amount recovered by any region in one year period. It also confirmed arresting 46 culprits and filing 18 references against them in the Accountability Court.
The NAB said bulk of the recoveries amounting to Rs.9.694 billion came from the Sindh Food Department and over Rs.200 million through plea bargains. The NAB Sukkur also took cognizance of complaints of the poor workers deprived of their ownership of apartments despite furnishing payment and completing all formalities. There were 1,536 flats and 274 houses amounting to approximately Rs5 billion at different locations of Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad, which remained unallotted due to unnecessary hindrances. The NAB Sukkur intervened with the Workers Welfare Board and Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution to handover the residential properties to their rightful owners.
Similarly, NAB was involved with SEPCO authorities to overcome electricity theft and achieve the target of zero loadshedding and recovering over Rs.10 million from electricity defaulters.
In its annual report, the NAB said 5,585 complaints were received during 2019, of which 28 were converted into inquiries and 105 CVs were authorized. As many as 77 inquiries were authorized of which 30 were converted into investigations. Up to 42 investigations were authorized and 26 investigations were converted into references.
