KARACHI: Pakistan’s Israr Ahmed became the new Asian junior squash champion as he won the 22nd Asian Junior Squash Individual Championship in Iran on Thursday.
Second seed Israr defeated top seed Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia 7-11, 11-7, 13-11, 8-11, 11-6 in a tough battle of 61 minutes in the final of under-19 category.
He thrashed third seed Sajad Zareian of Iran 12-10, 11-5, 13-11 in 40 minutes in the semi-final on Wednesday. Israr was the only player from Pakistan to play this event.
