Hard work necessary for providing basic facilities to people: Pervaiz Elahi
LAHORE: Minhajul Quran International Foreign Affairs Director G M Malik called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the assembly chambers on Saturday and presented him gift of eight volumes of Quranic Encyclopedia compiled by Shaikhul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri.
G M Malik told the PA Speaker that the Quranic Encyclopedia encompassed more than 20,000 subjects. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri's academic and research-based services for Islamic Millat were unforgettable.
Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri has always raised voice for elimination of extremism and terrorism. He thanked G M Malik for the gift of Quranic Encyclopedia and prayed for health and long age of Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri.
During the meeting, Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and Director General Research Inayatullah Luk were also present. Later, a delegation headed by Chairman Committee Punjab Assembly Mian Shafi Muhammad and Awaz Foundation chief Ziaur Rehman called on the PA Speaker in the Speaker's Chamber.
Pervaiz Elahi said that the government was striving for solving the problems of the people on a priority basis. The government is working for the elimination of illiteracy, backwardness and poverty. “We would have to work hard day and night for provision of health, education and other basic facilities to the people,” he added.
He appreciated the services of Awaz Foundation in the field of education. He said the stipends to promote girls’ education in south Punjab were started by him during his tenure as chief minister.
Mentioning the programme of free education and books launched in Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s stint as chief minister, Ziaur Rehman said till now no such second project could be started.
The PA Speaker also approved a memorandum of understanding between Punjab Assembly and Awaz Foundation Pakistan, under which, PA members will be imparted training for awareness of policy and legislation for achieving targets of education, health and durable progress. The agreement was signed by Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and Awaz Foundation chief Ziaur Rehan.
