3 arrested, cash, valuables recovered in Mardan
MARDAN: The police have arrested three alleged thieves and recovered millions of rupees cash, mobile phones and other stolen items from them, official sources said.
Briefing the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City Bashir Ahmed Yousafzai said that one Sohrab Khan registered the first information report (FIR) at the City Police Station, complaining that unidentified thieves stole cash and other valuables from his house. He added that District Police Officer Mohammad Sajjad Khan took notice of the robbery incident and formed a team, comprising DSP-City, SHO Hoti Police Station Muqadam Khan and SHO City Mohsin Fawad Khan. He said the police arrested the accused Haroonur Rashid, who admitted to having committed the crime during interrogation.
He added that police recovered Rs500,000 stolen money, 3,500 Saudi riyals, 4 tolas of gold ornaments, eight tolas silver ornaments, one laptop, one mobile phone and other items from him. In another robbery, the thieves stole Rs435,000 cash and other valuables from Asfandyar, a wholesale dealer at Khwaja Gunj bazaar. The police arrested Ashiq Hussain and Mohammad Amjad and recovered Rs180,000 cash, an IPhone and other stolen items. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Sajjad Khan addressed a public forum in Katlang. He said the police could overcome crime with the cooperation of the public.
The forum was attended by Dispute Resolution Council Chairman Gul Faraz Khan, former MPA Sahibzada Rahim Khan Bacha and other elders.He listened to problems of the locals and said that his office can be approached for social problems like usury and others, against which the police have set up a special desk. The official also lauded the services of the DRC Katlang and said it is good to resolve various disputes by the local elders and police.
