LHC allows PPP to hold Benazir anniversary at Liaquat Bagh
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party was granted permission by the Lahore High Court to continue its preparation to observe martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on 27th December.
“The PPP is observing this martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh the very first time and workers of the party are gathering at Liaquat Bagh on 27th December from all over the country,” said President PPP Central Punjab Qamar Zaman Kaira while addressing a press conference along with Secretary General PPPP Farhatullah Babar, Secretary Information PPPP Dr. Nafisa Shah, General Secretary PPP Punjab Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, spokesman to the Chairman PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Nazir Dhoki at Media Office Islamabad.
He said the PPP had informed the administration on 1st of December 2019 and just last night the administration informed us that the permission to hold jalsa at Liaquat Bagh on 27th December has been refused. “The PPP approached the court and informed it about the situation on which the court allowed the party to continue preparations for the planned jalsa at Liaquat Bagh,” he said.
He said the administration is responsible for providing security and PPP is with the constitution and law. “The PPP will give strategy for the future in that rally,” he said.
He reminded that at the time when Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had addressed in Liaquat Bagh, the country was going through a dire situation and once more the situation demands leadership. “Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the only leader who can provide that leadership,” he said.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that holding public gathering is the right of every party and PPP will exercise that right. “When Jamaat-e-Islami can hold jalsa just couple of days ago in Islamabad then PPP also has the right to hold public gathering,” he said. In reply to a question, he said that Shahbaz Sharif should come back to country and fulfill his responsibility and Maryam Nawaz should also break her silence.
To another question, he said now even the government’s allied parties were also admitting that the government is not capable to run the country and if they remained four months then the country continues to remain in grip of crisis.
In reply to a question, he said today Rana Sanaullah got a bail from the court while the other day Ahsan Iqbal was arrested.
