Function arranged to honour Kohat luminaries
KOHAT: A grand function was arranged at the Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday to acknowledge the services of the personalities from Kohat excelling in different walks of life.
General Officer Commanding (GOC), Kohat, Maj Gen Asad Nawaz Janjua, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The function was also attended by the Commissioner Kohat, Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah, former governors retired Lt Gen Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Syed Masud Kausar, former IGP Syed Kamal Shah, Senator Shamim Afridi, Senator Shibli Faraz, MPA Shahdad Khan, former MNAs Javed Ibrahim Paracha and Qaiser Jamal Afridi, former chief justice Peshawar High Court Syed Ibne Ali, retired Col Saadi Faraz, former MPA Musarrat Shafi, Deputy Commissioner Matiullah Khan, District Police Officer Mansoor Aman, Prof Muhammad Iqbal, notables, elders, renowned social workers and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Muhammad Iqbal shed light on the services of eminent judge late Justice Kiyani, popular Urdu poet late Ahmed Faraz, Pakistan Army’s Major Khadim Hussain Shaheed, late Pashto poet Ayub Sabir, senior cop Malik Saad Shaheed and warrior-poet Khushal Khan Khattak. GOC Major General Asad Nawaz Janjua said that Pakistan is the only country that succeeded in containing militancy.
“Pakistan has steadfastly faced all kinds of conspiracies and is now heading towards a bright future,” he said. He added that the focus should now be on creating job opportunities for the young and talented youth of the country to make them a valuable asset instead of a burden on the nation. He maintained that anti-Pakistan forces have been trying to brainwash our youth through their advanced technologies but we have to defend them at all cost. He opined that the valuable people are those who serve the nation while encountering all challenges.
He felt that the retired people could also utilise their services by educating and guiding the youth on the basis of their experience. He suggested that such programmes honouring eminent personalities should also be organised at the provincial and central levels.
At the end of the programme, shields were given to former MNA Javed Ibrahim Paracha, retired PHC Chief Justice Syed Ibne Ali, former Senator Syed Masud Kausar, former KP Governor retired Lt Gen Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Habibullah Shah who is the guardian of Ghamkol Sharif shrine, Senator Shibli Faraz, former secretary interior Syed Kamal Shah, Senator Shamim Afridi, MPA Shahdad Khan, Liaqat Artist and Prof Iqbal Khan.
