Irrigation workers’ union holds token hunger strike in Khairpur
SUKKUR: The workers’ union of Irrigation Scrap, Workshop Division, observed a token hunger strike in Khairpur that entered into the fifth day to press the authorities to accept their demands.
The workers union, led by chairman Shahbaz Ali, president Baderuddin and general secretary comrade Shahbaz Ali Phulpoto along with hundreds employees, was observing a token hunger strike in Khairpur for the last five days. They demanded to utilise the department's workforce rather than hiring third party contractors.
They claimed to initiate a probe into corruption cases, including the destruction of machinery worth billions of rupees, and said all the officials involved in the matter should be punished. They urged to cancel the deputations and reverse the cancellation orders of promoted employees.
