MULTAN: South Punjab People’s Lawyers Forum president Habibullah Shakir has condemned the rocket attack from Afghanistan in which four Pakistani soldiers were killed.
Talking to newsmen on the district courts’ premises here on Monday, he asked the Afghan rulers to revise their security policies and curb the influence of Taliban in the border areas. He also criticised India for backing out from dialogue with Pakistan and demanded resumption of dialogue as soon as possible in the larger interest of the region. He strongly condemned Indian aggression on borders for the last several days. He said that there were corrupt people in the PML-N and the party was allegedly protecting them. If Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution were implemented in letter and spirit, most of the PML-N legislators would be in jail as they did not fulfill the conditions of contesting elections, he added. He said that the government had failed to end the loadshedding from the country. He said that the courts were also facing unscheduled loadshedding.

CALL TO INCREASE RETIREMENT AGE: The Punjab Nursing Association has demanded the government increase the retirement age of nurses.
In a statement here on Monday, Punjab Nursing Association president Kalsoom Rafiq said that the Punjab government had increased the retirement age of doctors to 63 years, therefore, it should also increase the retirement age of nurses. She said that 150,000 doctors and 90,000 nurses were serving in the public sector hospitals.
LAWYERS STRIKE: On the call of the Punjab Bar Council, lawyers observed strike against police for allegedly misbehaving with their colleague and his family.
The lawyers said that a heavy contingent of police entered the house of senior lawyer and Punjab Bar Council former member Malik Shabbir Ahmad Langrial and allegedly misbehaved with him and his family and threatened them of dire consequences. The lawyers demanded the government look into the matter and take action against the accused policemen.
