FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad and a multinational company, Sumitomo, are collaborating to introduce a new product to prevent the rearing of dengue larvae at stagnant water.
It was discussed by the Sumitomo delegation led by Karino from Singapore in a meeting with UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan here. The delegation head said that the company and the UAF had joined hands to work together to control dengue and other mosquitoes. He said that the product would be mixed in the stagnant water, like swimming pools, water tanks and fountains that would eliminate the rearing of dengue larvae for three months.
UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the Punjab government was making all-out efforts to control the dengue and save the precious lives from the disease. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was looking after the steps being taken to control the virus. He said that the UAF was opened for the intentional partner to work together for the noble cause.
Department of Entomology Chairman Dr Jalal Arif said that his department would provide expertise in the testing of the product at the laboratories. He said that the effect on human health as well as environment would be also examined.
