Siraj leads funeral prayers of IIUI student: 16 accused students in IIUI campus clash arrested
ISLAMABAD: Senator Sirajul Haque, central ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Friday led Nimaz-e-Jinazah of Syed Tufailur Rehman, a student of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) who was killed during a clash between two student organisations in university campus on Thursday night.
Tufailur Rehman, member of the Islami Jamiat-e-Tulba (IJT) was hit with bricks in his head by students’ mob when an education expo of IJT was heading towards conclusion. JI central naib ameer Liaquat Baloch narrowly escaped firing when he just began his speech.
However, two students standing on his two sides received bullets.
The Nimaz-e-Jinazah which was held on Kashmir Highway near the IIUI premises was also attended by Muhammad Aamer, Nazim-e-Aaala IJT, Dr. Khalid JI AJK ameer, Liaquat Baloch, JI naib ameer, Dr. Tariq Saleem, JI ameer North Punjab and a large number of university students.
Addressing the gathering, the JI ameer Sirajul Haque gave 48 hours deadline to the government to arrest all culprits involved in killing of Tufailur Rehman and injuring many others.
The dead body of Tufailur Rehman, the youngest among brothers and sisters had been sent to his native village near Gilgit for burial. His father Syed Jalaluddin is also Gilgit’s JI naib ameer.
In all 20 students hailing from Islamic United Students Federation (IUSF) have been nominated in the FIR registered with the Sabzi Mandi Police Station Islamabad. Out of them, 16 have been arrested and sent on four-day physical remand by a court on Friday.
