LHC CJ terms lower courts backbone of judicial system
BAHAWALPUR: The district judiciary hosted a farewell dinner in the honour of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan at Bahawal Club on Thursday. Addressing the function, the LHC CJ said that the district judiciary was the backbone of the judicial system because all the cases that reached the upper courts came from the district courts. He said that the district judiciary had played an important role in pacing up the judicial system with the advent of Model Courts, Civil Courts and Overseas Courts. He said that it was the responsibility of judges to decide cases on merit. He said that the District Judicial Allowance was restored for the betterment of the district judiciary. He said that 32 civil judges had been promoted as the senior civil judges. He said that 17 additional sessions judges would be promoted as the district and sessions judges in the coming days. Justice Shujat Ali Khan, District and Sessions judges of Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalnagar and Lodhran and lawyers also attended the event. Meanwhile, LHC CJ Sardar Shamim planted a sapling in the lawn of Rest House of Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench.
