CHAKWAL: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the schedule for the Local Government elections to be held in the first phase here on Oct 31. According to the schedule announced for the LG polls, nomination papers would be filed from Sep 7 to Sep 11 and scrutiny of the papers and appeals against them would be completed till Sep 30. The final list of the candidates would be issued on Oct 2. As many as 16 returning officers have already been appointed to conduct the polls while the ECP has appointed Chakwal DCO Mehmood Javed Bhatti as the district returning officer. The major contest would be held at 71 union council seats and at six wards of the municipal committees of Chakwal, Choa Saidan Shah, Kallar Kahar, Talagang, Bhoun and Lawa among the candidates of the PML-N, PTI and Sardar Ghulam Abbas group. The PPP and JI are reluctant so for to bring their candidates at different seats of the union councils.
