ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi on Sunday said if needed governor’s rule would be imposed in the Sindh province.

Speaking in Geo News programme ‘Naya Pakistan’ with Shehzad Iqbal, the Sindh opposition leader asked whether governor’s rule was never imposed in the history of Pakistan. He said why the option had been given in the Constitution if imposing governor’s rule was unconstitutional. He said if a situation warranted imposition of governor’s rule, it would definitely be done. He said the PTI government could impose governor’s rule in Sindh for two months whenever need arises so. However, he added, for a longer period, it would need an approval from both houses of the parliament.

While responding to Firdous Shamim Naqvi’s assertions, PPP leader Murtaza Wahab said his party had no objection if the prime minister talks to Sindh chief secretary or the inspector general of police (IGP) Sindh. “Our demand is simple: the premier should also talk

to Sindh chief minister about the problems being faced by the province.”

He said the Sindh-Centre issues should be resolved at the Council of Common Interests (CCI) platform. He said a CCI meeting must be called every 90 days under the Constitution. However, he added, PM Imran Khan had violated the Constitution by not calling a CCI meeting since November last year.

Murtaza said the Sindh government had no role in Green Line Bus project, but it had not been completed yet. He said the PTI government was talking of unconstitutional acts in lust of power. He said the ruling party could not issue a single appointment notification, how come it would be able to impose the governor’s rule in Sindh.
