PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai said on Tuesday that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was following someone else's agenda.

In a handout, he said that the Maulana must tell the nation what deal he had struck with the opposition to prevent their corruption? He said that the PTI was being targeted in the illegal foreign funding case.

The minister said that Rs150 million would be spent on the Special Education Complex to facilitate disabled and special persons. The Disability Welfare Fund is being increased and according to the announcement by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the quota of disabled persons has been increased from 2 to 4 per cent for which the draft of the act is in the Law Department, the minister said. He expressed these views on International Day for Persons with Disabilities at Special Education Complex, Peshawar.

Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mehmood Jan, Members Provincial Assembly Rabia Basri, Wilson Wazir, Secretary Social Welfare Idrees Khattak, officers, elders and persons with disabilities attended the ceremony.

The provincial minister said that the population of disabled persons in Pakistan was 15 per cent which was very high. He said the day was being marked to show solidarity with people with disabilities and protect their rights. "Unfortunately, special persons do not get the place they deserve in society. In the past, the government did nothing to alleviate the problems of the disabled and to provide them facilities," he added.

Shaukat Yousafzai said that the former rulers devastated the economy of the country. However, he said that the economy was now stabilizing due to tough decisions taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The minister said that our country was not poor and it had resources like oil, gas and water. "KP alone has the capacity to generate 32,000 megawatts of electricity but the PPP and the PML-N did nothing for the country," he believed.

Shaukat Yousafzai said that when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf talked about accountability, the opposition people said that democracy was in danger. He said that the Maulana staged sit-in to save the corrupt. He said without accountability, the institutions would be destroyed.

The minister said that the government could not be pressured by staging sit-ins. He questioned that if Maulana Fazl Rahman's sit-in was successful, then why he launched the Plan-B and C.
