Seven matches decided in National Jr Hockey

LAHORE: Seven matches were decided as the the 36th National Junior Hockey Championship resumed here at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday after a day’s rest.

On the day of resumption Sindh B, Port Qasim, Customs, Balochistan, Punjab C, MCPL and Islamabad won their respective matches.

Sindh B beat Punjab D 12-1, Port Qasim beat Punjab B 12-1, Customs beat Gilgit 18-0, Balochistan beat Sindh A 4-2, Punjab C beat AJK 4-0, MCPL beat Army B 4-2 and Islamabad beat KP B 2-1.

Detailed results: Sindh B beat Punjab D 12-1. Scorers for Sindh B were Sardar Khan, M Haris Naseer and Arslan Haider.

Port Qasim beat Punjab B 12-1. Scoreers for the winners were Haris, Mehtab, Bilal, Sabiul Hassan, Faheem Khan, Abdur Rehman and Ammar. For Punjab B scorer was Sajjad.

Customs trounced Gilgit 18–0. Scorers for Customs were Shahbaz, Abbas, Hamza, Usman Ladu, Bilal Akram Zain, M. Shahbaz, Mohsin, Waseem and Sami.

Baloshistan beat Sindh A 4-2. Scorers for Sindh A were M Daniya and Shoban Ali while for Balochistan scorers were Abdul Nafeeh, Miraj Ali Sher M Khan and M Younas. Match no 27: Punjab C beat AJK 4–0. Scorers for Punjab C were Taki-ul-Hassan, Rana Waheed, Khawaja Aun Abbas and M Raza.

MPCL beat Army B 4-2. Scorers for MPCL were Afraz, Ihtesham, Asif Hanif; and for Army scorers werte Sajid and Zaheer Ahmad

Islamabad beat KP B 2-1. Scorers for Islamabad were Esa Khan, Usman Ali and for KP B scorter was Qasim.

Chief guest DG Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh while speaking on the occasion said the holding of junior championship after the gap of four years is definitely a positive development by PHF.

Secretary PHF Asif Bajwa, Tournament Director Olympian Anjum Saeed, Deputy Director Shahid Nizami and other officials were also present on this occasion.

Aulakh said Sports Board Punjab is extending full support to PHF in its mission to regain lost glory in hockey. “We are providing all necessary facilities to PHF in Punjab besides taking effective measures to trace young promising players,” he added.

“SBP and PHF will continue to work together for the revival of hockey. Our only objective is to promote sports in all parts of province”.

“As many as 315 sports facilities are presently working in the province while 200 new development schemes will be completed during the current fiscal year. In this way there will be over 500 sports facilities for Punjab’s young athletes,” he added.

“Top class sports infrastructure is also being launched at tehsil level so that players from backward areas also get a chance to flourish in sports. PC one of sports school has also been finalized”.
