TOBA TEK SINGH: Punjab Agriculture Department Director General (Extension) Dr Anjum Ali has assured farmers that all outstanding amount of subsidy will be paid to them in the first week of current month. He was addressing a seminar in a sports stadium here on Sunday.
The officer told that the Punjab government had already released an amount of Rs1 billion to a mobile phone company's money transfer section for this purpose.
The farmers informed him that several months had passed they had not been paid subsidy money. Punjab Agriculture Department Director General (Extension) Dr Anjum Ali stated that provision of Rs290 billion package by the federal government for subsidy on fertilisers and crops under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Emergency Agriculture Programme was a proof of the PM’s farmer-friendly agricultural policy. He said that the farmers would hear good news soon regarding the reduction in the power tariff for usage of electricity on tube-wells. He told that the Punjab Agriculture Department was in contact with the federal government in this regard.
