Land retrieved in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) along with the Revenue Department has retrieved 48 acres and seven Kanal of state land from illegal occupants in Tehsil Sadar.
The ACE spokesman said on Sunday that Anti-Corruption Establishment Director Imran Raza Abbasi along with a team of Revenue Department conducted operation against a grabbers group at Chak 535-GB and Chak 659-GB and retrieved 48 acres and seven Kanal of state land.
The land was valued at Rs 78.4 million and the land grabbers, Muhammad Yaseen and Muhammad Mumtaz, had been occupying it for the last many years, the spokesman added.
2,808 profiteers fined: The special price control magistrates imposed Rs 2.718 million fine on 2,808 profiteers in Faisalabad during November 2019. According to a spokesman for the administration, the price control magistrates checked 8,897 shops in various markets and bazaars of Faisalabad and found 2,808 shopkeepers involved in profiteering and overcharging. The magistrates also arrested 99 other shopkeepers over violation of Price Control Act during this period, he added.
Distillery unearthed: Sandal Bar police claimed on Sunday to have unearthed a distillery and seized 309 litres liquor besides arresting two accused.
On a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at Chak 30-JB and unearthed a distillery at an outhouse and arrested Nasir Ahmad and Akram on the spot.
The police also seized 309 litress liquor, including 103 litres wine and 206 litres Lahan (un-distilled wine) besides taking other material, including stove, gas cylinder, pans, etc, into custody.
Woman killed in accident: A woman was killed in a road accident in the area of Thikriwala police station on Sunday. According to police, Robina Bibi of Chak 195-RB Jundanwala along with her relative Rizwan was going to Chak 277-JB Gojra on a motorcycle when she fell onto the road and died on the spot.
Factory gutted: Costly material in a soap factory was reduced to ashes in the area of Jaranwala police station.
Police spokesman said on Sunday that fire erupted in a soap factory of Nawaz situated on Jassoana Road due to short-circuiting.
