KARACHI: Unlike in the previous first-class cricket seasons, this season fast bowlers had to toil hard for taking wickets with Kookaburra balls. Mostly spinners have dominated this year’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. But the move of using Kookaburra brand this season has been appreciated by the country’s left-arm pacer Usman Shinwari who represents Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the four-day cricket which has entered into a decisive stage with the last round going to begin here on Monday (today).
“Bowling with Kookaburra will help fast bowlers prepare much better for international cricket. You see in the previous seasons pacers used to clinch 60 to 70 wickets but this season they are working extremely hard for wickets and this thing will help them in international cricket,” Shinwari told reporters here at National Stadium on Sunday.
Shinwari himself has grabbed 12 wickets in five outings he has played so far for second-placed KP, which will face Northern in their most important last round outing on Monday (today).
Shinwari said that Pakistani bowlers did not bowl on right areas in the second Test against Australia in Adelaide. “Its always tough for fast bowlers to bowl on Australian tracks if you look at the history. I have played at Adelaide and it is not easy to bowl as it is a batting wicket. Mohammad Abbas is experienced but I think he also could not bowl in the right area. If you bowl in the right area then definitely it will help you check the flow of runs,” Shinwari said.
He said that he always extends his best for pulling off match-winning performances. Shinwari added that he was ready for Test cricket and will deliver his best if included in the side.
