KP upset Army in junior hockey
ISLAMABAD: Jibran scored lone goal for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa A in the seventh minute to stun Army B 1-0 in the National Junior Hockey Championship at the National Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.
Despite all out efforts Army were unable to break the ice. In another match played at the practice pitch, Punjab A crushed Islamabad 5-0. Bilawal scored five goals while Husnain netted the fifth one.
In the day’s third match, Mari Petroleum went on goal scoring spree against AJK winning the match 17-0. Anees and Abdul Rehman scored three goals each, Afsar and Abdullah netted two each.
Army A defeated Punjab B 10-0. Shahid scored four goals for Army. Usama and Umar netted two each.
Wapda outclassed Punjab D 12-1 with Rana Waheed scoring four goals while Ali Aziz netted three.
Earlier, Punjab Sports Minister Taimoor Bhatti declared the tournament open. Pakistan Hockey Federation President Brig(r) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, secretary Asif Bajwa and other PHF officials were also present on the occasion.
