Pervaiz Elahi for strengthening traditions of parliament
LAHORE: Government and Opposition Joint Committee on PML-N members’ resignations from the Standing Committees of the Punjab Assembly was held under chairmanship of Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the Assembly Chambers here on Monday.
Addressing the meeting, Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the matters between the government and the opposition should not go towards point of no-return and the opposition should refrain from extreme step like resignations.
He said the opposition role in the legislation matters of fundamental importance as such there should be no obstruction between the government and the opposition over the legislation matters. He directed the government and the opposition MPAs to play their role in strengthening the traditions of the parliament.
Speaker Punjab Assembly also asked the government and the opposition to submit recommendations regarding Chairman Public Accounts Committee.
